Reviewers Note: It is the beginning of 2025 and one of the skills I desire to grow in is that of writing book reviews (having never done this before). I am doing this so I can better hone my writing (and reading) skills as I seek to think more critically about the books I am reading. I am sharing on Goodreads for my own personal development. I know this will be something I am always growing in so if you actually read these, please be patient with me as I develop this skill. I will also receive constructive criticism if you desire to help me become a better writer (and reader). I plan to use this disclaimer for the entire 2025 year.

The Titan’s Curse (Percy Jackson) by Rick Riordan

I enjoyed this book. I did not enjoy having to delete the 100+ highlights my daughter had made in the book (Kindle version) when she was in middle school but I was amused by them. I got to a spot where she had highlighted a dozen or so “damn” comments and I asked her about it. She, of course, refused to tell me why. When I got to that spot in the book, it became obvious why she had done it. I laughed and then I got to laugh again the next time we had dinner.
As mentioned in the review for the second book, Mr. Riordan really grabbed my attention in the very last chapter with the introduction to a new character. I enjoyed learning about the new character and the new dynamic she brings to the story and the other characters.
One amusing thing I have noticed over the three books so far is the fact that Percy is usually in the dark with regards to “critical” information he needs for his quests. It is almost comical how the other characters avoid telling him things. It is quite amusing and fun.
While the ending of this book did not grab me in the same way as the second book, I was intrigued by the behavior of a new character. I am not sure where the author will take him but it will be a fun journey to watch.
I am definitely enjoying these books and can recommend this one too.
