Review 2025.01.010
Reviewers Note: It is the beginning of 2025 and one of the skills I desire to grow in is that of writing book reviews (having never done this before). I am doing this so I can better hone my writing (and reading) skills as I seek to think more critically about the books I am reading. I am sharing on Goodreads for my own personal development. I know this will be something I am always growing in so if you actually read these, please be patient with me as I develop this skill. I will also receive constructive criticism if you desire to help me become a better writer (and reader). I plan to use this disclaimer for the entire 2025 year.

The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson) – Rick Riordan
416 Pages
My daughter read the Percy Jackson series and other series from Rick Riordan when she was younger. We have watched both the movies and the TV show together. She has constantly encouraged me to read this series so when I recently got the last two books on sale (completing the set), I decided it was time to read it.
The first night I jumped into it, I read 20% (Kindle). I was a little surprised as I didn’t think I had been reading that long and I am a slow reader. The story was easy to follow. The characters were enjoyable even if they were a little juvenile. I really just wanted to say that since they are literally juveniles (I have to amuse myself you know).
Not a lot of differences between season one of the TV series and the first book from my perspective. This made the story go by much quicker. Their adventure was fun and I have already started the second book, The Sea of Monsters.
I did struggle writing this review and finally decided it was OK for it to be short. I can recommend this book for anyone of reading age.
