Review 2025.01.003
Reviewers Note: It is the beginning of 2025 and one of the skills I desire to grow in is that of writing book reviews (having never done this before). I am doing this so I can better hone my writing (and reading) skills as I seek to think more critically about the books I am reading. I am sharing on Goodreads for my own personal development. I know this will be something I am always growing in so if you actually read these, please be patient with me as I develop this skill. I will also receive constructive criticism if you desire to help me become a better writer (and reader). I plan to use this disclaimer for the entire 2025 year.

Androne by Dwain Worrell
329 Pages
I am not quite sure what I should write in a book review for fiction and this being my first one, I guess we will both be surprised by what comes out.
I did not have any problems reading this book. The story was engaging and it was not written in a difficult style. I was not really captured with the book for the first 20-22% (Kindle Edition). I am not sure exactly how to explain that. Maybe I was trying to put myself into the world Mr. Worrell was writing about and not able to do that. But this is true of a lot of books. I would relate it to my experience with Dune and needing to get through the first “50 pages” to fall into the world. Once I hit that 20-22% spot, I was fully immersed in the world and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The main character, Paxton, is in the military so there is some language. I am not a big fan of that but it is true to the character and so I just read it as such. I did not find it excessive but I know some people find any amount excessive so if that is you then the book is not for you. I enjoyed the struggle Paxton had throughout the book. I could feel the doubt and desires he had to do the right thing but not really know what that was.
If you like science fiction, then I can recommend this book to you. I ended up buying the second book in the series, Alliance, and began it immediately.
Maybe my next fiction review will be longer.
