Review 2025.07.008
Reviewers Note: It is the middle of 2025 and I am not doing a good job of keeping up with this desired goal of mine to write book reviews. I do not want to lower my expectations but I am going to so that I can catch up. This will mean short reviews on the books I read.
The Secret Place of Thunder by John Starke
192 Pages
This was just what I needed and honestly still what I need. I want to be productive but sometimes the Lord asks us to wait. Sadly, I told Father I would wait however long even 20 years but now I realize that’s easier said than done.
“Resisting a performative life and resting in the secret places with the Father, as we’ve seen, often means being overlooked, ignored, alienated, pushed out, and hated.”
I’ve felt like that has been most of my life – ignored, alienated, different. And even though I realize that this is true for the majority of people, it still feels lonely, isolating. How do I break free? How do I stop trying to perform? How do I stop “doing” and start “being”?
I recently finished “Waiting Isn’t A Waste” and would definitely recommend these two books together for people who are in a place of waiting and yet wanting to work outside of God’s current desire for you.
