Review 2025.08.004

Reviewers Note: It is the middle of 2025 and I am not doing a good job of keeping up with this desired goal of mine to write book reviews. I do not want to lower my expectations but I am going to so that I can catch up.  This will mean short reviews on the books I read.

Waiting Isn’t A Waste by Mark Vroegop

152 Pages

The first book I read by this author was “Dark Clouds, Deep Mercy”.  I liked the book so much that I keep copies in my office to give away so I was excited to read this book.  I was a bit surprised when I saw the page count was so low but it was packed full of goodness.  I am in a season of waiting so it was even more valuable to me.

One of my favorite parts was his discussion on Psalm 130:5 where he talked about waiting and hoping being intimately connected.  “A prime example of this is Psalm 130:5. The psalmist uses the same Hebrew word (qavah) three times in verse 5, but our translations correctly use different English words (wait, hope). “I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope” (Ps. 130:5). This is important.”

It is hard not to lose hope especially when you are waiting for God to set you on your next course of action.  I have held on to this idea many times since reading this and even shared it with a few people.  That alone was worth the time to read the book but there were many other points that resonated with me.

If you are in a season of waiting then I definitely recommend this book.  If you are not in a season of waiting but enjoy a good read, I recommend it because it will be good for your soul and your future self.
