Review 2025.07.017

Reviewers Note: It is the middle of 2025 and I am not doing a good job of keeping up with this desired goal of mine to write book reviews. I do not want to lower my expectations but I am going to so that I can catch up.  This will mean short reviews on the books I read.

Breath by James Nestor

280 Pages

This is one of my top books for the year.  I have only four in that list right now but I loved this book.  After I finished it, I read a few of the one star reviews and chuckled.  The author is sharing his personal journey with his personal health issues.  He shares what he discovered and tried in his life to help his health issues and it was all related to proper breathing.  I did not understand some of those reviews but we all receive things differently.

I began taping my mouth at night at some point during my reading.  This is to prevent mouth breathing which is not the proper breathing technique.  I have been doing this for about five weeks and I feel better.  My daughter tried it too.  While I do not have a lot of sinus or allergy issues, she does and she told me that within three days she noticed a difference and after a week she felt significantly better.  This is just our personal experience.

He shares a lot of crazy stories but never in a way that suggests you should try them. Most of the stories though are just normal.  It was a quick read too.

I highly recommend this book especially to people who are interested in a simple way to possibly improve their health just by breathing differently.
