Review 2025.07.012

Reviewers Note: It is the middle of 2025 and I am not doing a good job of keeping up with this desired goal of mine to write book reviews. I do not want to lower my expectations but I am going to so that I can catch up.  This will mean short reviews on the books I read.

Spoilers – No

The Magician’s Nephew by C.S. Lewis

218 Pages

So many people were surprised I had never read this series and so I finally put it on my wish list.  After a few months I had purchased all but one book on sale.  Then double or triple Kindle points day happened and I bought the last one.  I read them in chronological order and not published order.  I am glad I did.  This book sets up the whole series quite well.  Each book’s story is contained in itself but there is definitely a beginning and ending to the series.

I cried when Aslan set up the first king and queen.  The specific words that got me?  Aslan said “I have known you long. Do you know me?”  Brutal.  I cried for several pages.

It was published in 1955 so some of the language is different.  It took me a bit to get into the flow but not that long. And thankfully I just read through all seven so the longer I read, the more natural the language was for me.

I recommended this book to anyone who reads fiction.
