Review 2025.05.012

Reviewers Note: It is the middle of 2025 and I am not doing a good job of keeping up with this desired goal of mine to write book reviews. I do not want to lower my expectations but I am going to so that I can catch up.  This will mean short reviews on the books I read.

Spoilers – No

Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins

387 Pages

My daughter loves The Hunger Games books. She was going on vacation and checked this book out from the library.  Then she made the mistake of challenging me to a race to complete the book.  In all honesty, I would have had no chance to beat her if she had read it on her entire flight but she didn’t.  So by day three of her vacation, I had finished reading it.  I haven’t let her live that down yet.

I am not as big of a fan as my daughter but I do enjoy the books and bonding with my daughter through the books.  The author’s style is easy for me to read and follow. Seeing the turmoil that Haymitch goes through is rough.  I cried (but I cry easily).  My daughter cried more.  We both loved the book and anxiously await the movie.
