Review 2025.04.002

Reviewers Note: It is the beginning of 2025 and one of the skills I desire to grow in is that of writing book reviews (having never done this before). I am doing this so I can better hone my writing (and reading) skills as I seek to think more critically about the books I am reading. I am sharing on Goodreads for my own personal development. I know this will be something I am always growing in so if you actually read these, please be patient with me as I develop this skill. I will also receive constructive criticism if you desire to help me become a better writer (and reader). I plan to use this disclaimer for the entire 2025 year.

Darth Plagueis by James Luceno

461 Pages

What can one say about Darth Plagueis?  It was not a bad book.  It was not a fantastic book either.  The story was well written and easy to read. I never felt that the story was dragging, which I appreciated.  And I was entertained, which is important in a fiction book, any book really.

I enjoyed the way the book started with the death of two masters and then backtracked to tell the story of how we got there.  I had always been curious about how Palpatine became a Sith and this book is really his origin story.  There were at least two large jumps in time but they were well placed and left room for my mind to fill in some blanks which I enjoyed.

If you have no knowledge of Star Wars, then I would not personally recommend the book to you.  However if you have seen the movies and like to read, then go for it!  It’s fiction so I’m thankful I wrote something at all.  🙂
