There is a way that seems right to man…
Deuteronomy 12:8-9 – You must not do like we are doing here today, with everyone doing what seems best to him, for you have not yet come to the final stop and inheritance the LORD your God is giving you.
How have we changed as a society (not specifically the elect) from this same idea – everyone doing what seems best to him? I read an article about Emily Letts who made a video about her abortion. In the video Emily says “I feel in awe of the fact that I can make a baby. I can make a life. I knew that what I was going to do was right, ’cause it was right for me and no one else.” This is really what mankind has been doing since the fall. We put ourselves in the place of God – “I can make a life.” and “it was right for me” We forget or deny that God is the creator – God creates life – and we are the creation. We also forget or deny that God determines what is right and wrong and we either obey or rebel. Everyone doing what seems best to him.
Ecclesiastes 1:9 – What exists now is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done; there is nothing truly new on earth.
