Weather Balloon

I’m a bit nervous.  You see the kids and I have a weather balloon.  The Raspberry Pi with the camera module are ready.  The battery pack to run them have been here.  Programming is complete.  All items needed have been procured except for Helium which is supposed to be reserved for us (I have a large tank scheduled).  But I am still nervous because I’ve never done this and I fear something horrible will go wrong.

Yes, I know that the odds of someone dying from this are slim.  I guess I’m nervous because I don’t want to mess it up.  I just think I’ll do something dumb (as usual) and all the planning and preparation will be ruined.

If I don’t mess it up too bad we will have pictures in about two weeks.  Now to try and relax about this whole thing.

What part of this could hurt people?
I thought it was supposed to be a fun thing, anyway? And, are you, at least pretending to be excited in front of the kids? Try not to scare them, but make sure they know the real things that could occur…not the scary ones in your head. (I’ve been there.. wait,..I’m still there.)

LOL – you crack me up. It is fun. We are excited. That doesn’t mean I can’t be scared of the balloon going up and losing it and the payload.

The odds of someone dying are slim girl! hahaha

losing it’s payload.. I’m sorry, I have no idea what that balloon is supposed to do now. I’m assuming it was expensive, if you are afraid of losing it…

No it isn’t expensive. We are sending a Raspberry Pi with a camera up with the balloon to take pictures. That is the payload.
