Since I enjoyed the words used in the ESV from Jeremiah 4:2, I decided to read chapter 1 in the ESV.
The LORD said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ But go to whomever I send you and say whatever I tell you.” –Jeremiah 1:7
I wonder if God tells us the same thing he tells Jeremiah. Lord, here is my excuse, please accept it. I know many men who tell me they will do something for the Lord when they get their lives cleaned up or in order. I tell them your life will never be in order – go serve now. They cannot see with their eyes or hear with their ears. They are lost souls. It is not something I can change except through prayer and I do pray for their eyes to be opened.
And sometimes even with eyes that can see and ears that can hear, we are afraid. Yet, God gives us the same promise that He gives Jeremiah – “for I am with you to deliver you” (verse 8). God will be with us and we can be used by Him to do great things for His glory.
