In the parable of the sower, Jesus talks about those who have the Word snatched from them, those who hear the Word but do not have any root, those who hear the Word but are choked out by the cares of the world, and finally those who produce 30, 60, and 100 fold (Matthew 13). Last Wednesday I got a call and was told that Jacob had accepted Jesus – the guy from the house that burned down. I listened but honestly I did not feel this overwhelming excitement and joy for his salvation as I should have. After the call I felt conflicted and asked someone about my apprehension regarding Jacob’s salvation. You see I had been praying earnestly for Jacob and if God answered the prayer and he is save – Praise The Lord! – but I have seen too many people who don’t develop roots and others who get choked out by cares of the world. So I am asking for continued prayers for this young man and the chosen ones in his life. We need strength to persevere in the ups and downs that will come in his life.
Have you been choked out by the cares of the world? Reach out to someone who can pull you back. Do you know people who have been or are on that path? Reach out to them and bring them back. Reach out to them before it is too late. Let us sing the praises of our Lord and King together with a multitude that no one can count. Let us glorify our Savior with our lives. Oh brothers and sisters let us spend and be spent.
