On a typical day, giving up is always appealing because it is the easy way out. Isn’t that what we want? The easy way! Easy money. Easy cooking. Easy relationships. No work required.
The LORD answered,
“If you have raced on foot against men and they have worn you out,
how will you be able to compete with horses?
And if you feel secure only in safe and open country,
how will you manage in the thick undergrowth along the Jordan River?”–Jeremiah 12:5
It was one of those days where I would have preferred to take the easy way out. I wrote something in my journal and then began to read Jeremiah 12. Verse five registered in my mind but I continued to the end of the chapter and then went back. I read verse five a few times and finally realized that God was talking to me. It is always awe inspiring to know God talks to us directly through His Word.
