Learn More About Him

I had my Tuesday email all typed up.  Then I woke up, showered and wrote this instead.  I do not like to waste some of my words so I will post the other Tuesday email words also.

Last week someone came into my office. We always have lively conversations but one thing they tell me (a lot) is that I think I know it all. I find this thought very strange because we were talking about my desire to answer the question: what is worship? And typically we are talking about some question I want to seek out the answer to. Since that meeting, I have expanded my question to include other questions like: what is my form of worship? how can I glorify God better through worship? And things along those lines. I want to know God more. I think this should be a strong desire of our hearts – to seek out and know more about God. To have an intimate relationship with Him – if I can be so bold as to use that word.

We, of course, can never know everything about God but we can learn more about Him. We can look beyond the surface and go deep into His Word in an attempt to stir up a love for Him that will bring glory and honor to His name in all the nations and our neighborhoods.

Hebrews 6:1-3 – Therefore we must progress beyond the elementary instructions about Christ and move on to maturity, not laying this foundation again: repentance from dead works and faith in God, teaching about baptisms, laying on of hands, resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. And this is what we intend to do, if God permits.

Hebrews 12:4 – You have not yet resisted to the point of bloodshed in your struggle against sin.

Lord, help us to reject apathy in our desire to know You more.
