I normally use the NET translation of the Bible. I have a project I am working on that involves an ESV so I opened it to Jeremiah 4:1-4 since it has been in my mind for some time.
and if you swear, ‘As the LORD lives,’ in truth, in justice, and in righteousness, then nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory. –Jeremiah 4:2
The words used here grabbed me. In him shall they glory. I got a mental image of great joy from the nations as they bask in the glory of God. In one of the books I am reading John Piper says – God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him. I remember hearing this a few years ago and did not really grasp it. And I have heard it many times since then but until recently, when reading one of these books (which might be dangerous!), it started to come together.
That verse really shows the truth of the statement from Piper. The nations shall bless themselves in Him, and in Him shall they glory. Just amazing. The way God uses people to help us grow in knowledge about Him so we can love Him more is breathtaking.
