One of my daily reminders is “It is not about you. It is about the gospel!” This does not always register because I am bent towards selfishness. When I really sit down and think about the gospel message, I realize like the Apostle Paul that I too am nothing. So I ask – how important are we? When we die, does the message of Jesus Christ die with us or continue on? The gospel has not died with any of the elect but has continued on without them, just like it will continue on without us when we pass away. So, we are not important at all? Of course we are important, God uses us to directly influence those around us. And we plead with them desperately to look to the Lord.
2 Corinthians 12:11 – even though I am nothing.
I see the hardness of their hearts sometimes and realize the impossibility of my actions, apart from God, having any effect so we also plead with the Lord in prayer. There are names on this list and names not listed – people who need God to change their hearts of stone into hearts of flesh.
