“He says he is a Christian.” Indeed, most Americans claim to be Christian – just over 77% according to Operation World. What I want to know is if they are one of the elect – a true Christian in word and deed. Are they saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. How do you know you are one of the elect? [In Mark 13:20 and other places Jesus uses the Greek word ἐκλεκτοὺς – elect, chosen.] The question is not one we want to ask but we do. Can you be sure you are one of the elect? And your friend – are they one of the elect? What about your enemy? If I plead with you now, will you look towards Jesus? Will you plead with your friend to do the same? Your enemy?
Just look to Jesus.
