What grace has God given you?
Romans 12:3 – For by the grace given to me I say to every one of you not to think more highly of yourself than you ought to think, but to think with sober discernment, as God has distributed to each of you a measure of faith.
Later in Romans 12, Paul lists a few gifts of grace. But this verse is more about recognizing that the gift comes from God. It is not something achieved but received (I’m sure I heard that somewhere before). And if it is a gift, you cannot boast. You cannot think highly of yourself. God provided you with what He wanted so that you could build the body of believers.
I would not limit this to the internal building of the body but also adding to the body. What a joy to get to serve Him in this way! To be used by God to save more people. Spend me up!
So we get to think about grace and rest in that thought. Then we get to use that grace as we engage the world to show it Christ’s love.
