Does religion teach us not to change?
As a scientist, I am hostile to fundamentalist religion because it actively debauches the scientific enterprise. It teaches us not to change our minds, and not to want to know exciting things that are available to be known. It subverts science and saps the intellect. –The God Delusion
I would say that a large percentage of religious people I know fit under that category – refusing to change. Does that necessarily imply that religion is the cause? Maybe they are just lazy? Laziness seems to be more of a problem than anything else. People unwilling to dig down deep and really study. People unwilling to ask questions and if by chance they ask a question, well they do not look up the answer.
They give countless excuses. But it really just seems to boil down to being lazy.
