Christian hatred of Jews is not just a Catholic tradition. Martin Luther was a virulent anti-Semite. At the Diet of Worms he said that ‘All Jews should be driven from Germany.’ And he wrote a whole book, On the Jews and their Lies, which probably influenced Hitler. –The God Delusion
I found this interesting because in another book I’m reading, Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy, the same point is discussed. Hitler did use many of Martin Luther’s writings to fuel the hatred of the Jews.
It amuses me that today is the anniversary (as legends go) of the day Martin Luther nailed his 95 Thesis to the church door.
Yes, the Bonhoeffer book was put on hold for several other books. I found that I have too many books that I want to read. If only there was a way to just download them into my head like a computer…
