Afraid To Lose

You should see the note cards I have.  The one that has been on top lately is “How can I grow today?

I like to read the notes from time to time and move one back to the top for remembrance.  Here is a list of some of my notes.

  • How can I grow today?
  • Today, everything is different.  Why?
  • What did you do?  What is different?
  • Nothing changes if nothing changes.
  • Am I afraid to lose?
  • Alone with God and God alone.
  • Did you pray?
  • Are you dead?
  • Are your eyes on Jesus?
  • We live wisely as if we have nothing to lose.
  • We work to bring about flourishing.
  • It is time for a grander vision.

That morning I moved “Am I afraid to lose?” to the top.

I honestly thought “What else do I have to lose?”.  I think this regularly and during those times the feeling is real but it is a surface feeling.  When you feel alone you feel as if there is nothing to lose.  I know in my heart that there are many things I do not want to lose.  I also know that I have to give up more to gain more freedom in Christ.

I have many more note cards around my desk.  Some of them have Bible verses on them.

  • Acts 5:13
  • Psalm 37:5
  • 2 Corinthians 12:15 (Philippians 2:17-18)
  • Jeremiah 10:23
  • Jeremiah 12:5
  • James 1:5
  • Galatians 1:10
  • 2 Corinthians 5:20
  • 1 Corinthians 15:34
  • Hebrews 12:4

There are other Bible verses too but those will be good to start.  I did not place them in creation order which might help develop an idea of the journey I have traversed.  I thought it would be more fun to see you guess.  Yes, I can amuse myself with the idea regardless of reality right?  If I do not amuse myself, who will?
