You should see the note cards I have. The one that has been on top lately is “How can I grow today?”
I like to read the notes from time to time and move one back to the top for remembrance. Here is a list of some of my notes.
- How can I grow today?
- Today, everything is different. Why?
- What did you do? What is different?
- Nothing changes if nothing changes.
- Am I afraid to lose?
- Alone with God and God alone.
- Did you pray?
- Are you dead?
- Are your eyes on Jesus?
- We live wisely as if we have nothing to lose.
- We work to bring about flourishing.
- It is time for a grander vision.
That morning I moved “Am I afraid to lose?” to the top.
I honestly thought “What else do I have to lose?”. I think this regularly and during those times the feeling is real but it is a surface feeling. When you feel alone you feel as if there is nothing to lose. I know in my heart that there are many things I do not want to lose. I also know that I have to give up more to gain more freedom in Christ.
I have many more note cards around my desk. Some of them have Bible verses on them.
- Acts 5:13
- Psalm 37:5
- 2 Corinthians 12:15 (Philippians 2:17-18)
- Jeremiah 10:23
- Jeremiah 12:5
- James 1:5
- Galatians 1:10
- 2 Corinthians 5:20
- 1 Corinthians 15:34
- Hebrews 12:4
There are other Bible verses too but those will be good to start. I did not place them in creation order which might help develop an idea of the journey I have traversed. I thought it would be more fun to see you guess. Yes, I can amuse myself with the idea regardless of reality right? If I do not amuse myself, who will?
