I found out around lunch time that my brother John’s wife has to go in for some tests because of something they found on her breast. The first thought is obviously cancer which scares everyone. When he was talking to me he kept repeating “WOW” over and over. That was pretty much the only thing I could say as well. John was the first Christian brother I had. I am not sure any explanation I give would be adequate but I truly love this man as I know Christ would want me to love other brothers and sisters in Christ.
I got home and was thinking about him and sent my Christian sister a text asking her to keep them in her prayers. Then I started reading and not even half a page into what I was reading I was directed to read Deuteronomy 8. The whole chapter is amazing but I got hit with the verses below.
For the LORD your God is bringing you to a good land, a land of brooks, springs, and fountains flowing forth in valleys and hills, a land of wheat, barley, vines, fig trees, and pomegranates, of olive trees and honey, a land where you may eat food in plenty and find no lack of anything, a land whose stones are iron and from whose hills you can mine copper. You will eat your fill and then praise the LORD your God because of the good land he has given you. – Deuteronomy 8:7-10
It was an overwhelming evening filled with joy while glory and praise were lavished to God. The promise that the elect have of a good land is simply breathtaking. No matter what we endure here, our home with our Savior is worth it. All the trials, tribulations, pain, and suffering cannot compare to the glory that will be revealed.
